An Alert from Community Watch
Posted on 12/24/12
It is Christmas time and shopping is at full tilt now. Packages of all sizes are being brought to houses in Legacy Park. Community Watch Committee is sending out this message to help you keep thieves from "shopping" at your house AFTER Christmas.
Once the packages have been opened, and the boxes are ready to throw out, make sure that no big boxes that contained valuable electronics, etc., are set by the curb for trash pick-up. Break down boxes such as these and put them in garbage bags or into the trash bin -- don't leave them sitting next to the bin as a marker for thieves that you have a great new plasma TV, etc!
Our security patrol has noticed fewer garage doors being left open lately. This is another item to add to your list to check before turning in at night.
Lastly, one more reminder to make sure you do not leave valuables in your car, in sight, overnight. We have been very, very fortunate not to have experienced a lot of theft in our community, but leaving these temptations in your car can definltely lead to crimes of opportunity. It is surprising to see how many GPS systems are left sitting on dashboards overnight -- take a moment to lock them in a glovebox or, better yet, take them inside.
Wishing you a Merry Christmas from our dedicated Community Watch Committee. They ask you to please attend their meetings (held on the second Monday of each month, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rec Center) to join the effort to keep our community safe.A resident has reported to the HOA a disturbing encounter with a solicitor
